Dr. Ranjit Pullarkat
Dr. Ranjit Pullarkat believes in cost effective, quality surgical care for his patients. Making the decision to have surgery is a very personal one and your comfort with the surgical team and care plan is of utmost concern. It is often your comfort and attitude with this decision that makes up a large portion of the physical recovery after a surgical procedure.
Ranjit was born in Texas and grew up in New York City. He attended the six-year combined BA/MD program at Boston University. While he originally planned to continue his education with a focus on engineering and science, the patient care experience in medical school led him to move directly into clinical surgical care.
After completing a general surgical residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA, he went on to complete a Surgical Critical Care fellowship at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, MD. He is board certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.
In his more than 20-year surgical career, he has worked in San Antonio, TX; Altoona, PA; and Dayton, OH. He and his family have been in Fairfax County since 2007. Ranjit continues to provide care for patients including the acutely ill or injured. Most recently, he was the trauma medical director at Reston Hospital Center. He has received many awards for his role educating surgical residents and students throughout his career. He has also lectured at medical, nursing and pre-hospital EMS conferences. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Today, Dr. Pullarkat enjoys clinical surgical care. He has used his talent and vast experience to care for critically ill patients. Ranjit uses the latest technology, minimally invasive techniques and DaVinci Robotic technology. He uses national registry data to improve his skills while pursing cost effective and efficient medical practices to improve outcome and result in the highest quality care for his patients.
Dr. Pullarkat, his wife and daughter live in Fairfax County. The family’s interests include travel, gardening, music, exercise and health. Being in touch with family around the world is important to Ranjit. His free time is spent looking at medical economics and the pursuit of an MBA degree.
